Michayal Mathew is an aerospace engineering graduate student who wants to revolutionize education through Virtual Reality technology. As a student who sometimes struggled to visualize concepts in his undergraduate engineering courses, he’s been on a mission to alleviate that pain for future students. For the past 4 years, he’s been hard at work in the MAESTRO Lab developing a more intuitive way to bring VR/AR to the classroom. He has previously designed a VR astronaut simulator for NASA, as well as human-scale VR prototypes of the NextSTEP-2 Space Habitat for the Sierra Nevada Corporation.
Outside of technology, Michayal is incredibly passionate about playing (and winning) intramural basketball, photographing magnificent landscapes, as well as being an executive council member of Texas A&M’s Student Engineers’ Council.
